Put the Extra in the Ordinary

Many people seem to go through life satisfied with just being ordinary, okay with just doing okay.

But there’s an amazing world and wonderful options available for all of us who are willing to reach for more and go beyond ordinary.

It’s called extraordinary. We can all turn what otherwise might just be just an okay life into an extraordinary life if we are willing to put more effort into our pursuits. I call it “putting the extra in the ordinary.”

You want to have an extraordinary relationship with your spouse or significant other?  You need to be willing to do the extra work: extra listening, extra caring, extra acts of kindness and love.

You want to have an extraordinary healthy, fit life?  You need to be willing to do the extra work:  extra careful eating, extra time working out.

You want to have an extraordinary spiritual life?  You need to be willing to do the extra work: extra time reading, extra time praying or meditating.

You want to have an extraordinary business?  You need to be willing to do the extra work on your business, too:  extra careful planning, extra disciplined focus, extra daily hustle.

Here’s what I know for sure – you will get out of your life whatever you put into it.

If you just put in the ordinary effort you will end up with an ordinary life.

If you stretch to put in the extra you will end up with an extraordinary life.
